I Say It's My Birthday

I turned 1 today! My grandparents joined Mommy, Daddy, and me for dinner and cake. Since I'm a big girl who has been feeding herself for ages, I had no problem digging into a slice of carrot cake. It was very tasty!

I got lots of nice presents, too -- shoes, pearls, money for shopping [or savings per Mommy]. What more can a girl ask for!?!

A Triple Date

My favorite guy, JP, and I joined our parents for a date night at St. Leo's ravioli supper. The volunteers made about 15,000 ravioli and 600 pounds of meatballs. That's a lot of italian food! We finished off our meal with home-made cannoli. Mommy plans to be a ravioli maker volunteer for the next dinner, but I think Daddy and I will just be eaters.

Trick or Treat

Dozens of kids came to our house to get candy out of a basket while Mommy and Daddy drank wine and chatted with the parents. Mommy says this is called Halloween but it looks more like happy hour to me. I'm not sure why I have to dress like a lady bug for happy hour but damn I look good!

The Great Pumpkin

So, is this the great pumpkin? Probably not, but I had lots of fun at the farm -- animals, bales of hay, and lots of pumpkins.

Hosting my first play date

I had three guy friends over to play with my toys and bang on stuff. The banging is always the best. Their parents came so Mommy and Daddy got a play date, too. Win-win.

Into the woods

We trekked west to the Appalachian Mountains to enjoy a family camping trip. Mommy and Daddy were very quick to set-up our camp...surprisingly quick in fact. I was a bit concerned that the tent would come crashing down during the night, but our base camp withstood wind and rain. Yep, Mother Nature did not shine on us after the first day.

I enjoyed my first camping trip. I can't wait to try it again...perhaps on a warmer weekend.

So long summer...

We spent a long weekend soaking up the sun at the beach. I walked (with help) to the shoreline at every chance and loved having the waves wash across my legs and watching my feet sink in the sand like magic. We also visited the amusement park where I rode the merry-go-round and teacup ride. Bring on Disney World!

Shake, rattle & roll

I lived through my first earthquake and I didn't have to go all the way to California. We had a 5.8 quake right here in neighboring Virginia on Tuesday. Baltimore shook a lot, but frankly I didn't feel much because Grammie and I were picnicking outdoors. Had we been at the swim club, I bet I would have noticed the extra big waves in the baby pool.

Now, Hurricane Irene is headed for us. And we all have our fingers crossed that Grammie and Pop's beach house doesn't get messed up because we have a big vacation planned there next week.

Go Ravens!

I'm all ready for tonight's home opener. Where are the wings and beer? Daddy and I can't wait for kick off.

I managed to get the food chunks into my mouth today -- I guess that counts as feeding myself which is another milestone. While Mommy is dreading the messy meal times, Daisy is liking the whoopses that end up on the floor for her.

3/4 birthday

Nine months old - 18lbs, 9 oz., and 27" long. I'm getting big! And today, my first tooth popped through my gum. The doctor says I need to practice my chewing so I can speak well in the coming months. It's chunky, soft food for me. Mommy needs to come up with a new menu for me.

All Good Dogs Go to Heaven

Our wonderful Regis went to heaven today. He was over 12 years old and suffering lots of ailments. We are all very sad.

100 Years of Family

We attended the 100 year reunion of my grandmom Dorothy's family this weekend. It was fun to see so many aunts, uncles, and cousins. And for a change I wasn't the baby because my newest cousin Jax was born just a week before the big event. Can't wait for the next one.

Cruisin'

I guess today will count as my first crawling. I managed to make it a few "steps" before face planting. I've been pseudo crawling for a week or so, but why should I struggle to learn that maneuver when I have perfected my roll, flip, scoot to get where I want to go. Mommy is a bit scared because I managed to get to a magazine and shred it in less than 2 minutes. She says I'm faster than Daisy when it comes to destroying paper. I'm not sure if that was a compliment.

Madame President

Put a modern girl like me behind the big desk and I can solve this darn debt crisis, healthcare, and Afghan troop draw down. Now if I could only learn how to crawl forward.

Water Lillie

My first trip to the beach!!! It was so great. I played on the beach with Mommy, Daddy, Grammie, and Pop. I liked the waves washing over my legs but Mommy and Daddy stayed close so I didn't get toppled over. Grammie and Pop had a small pool on the beach so I could splash and play closer to the base camp. It was definitely base camp -- a canopy and tent to protect me from the sun, chairs, umbrellas, coolers, etc.

I also got to enjoy my first 4th of July -- fireworks, a cook-out, and a red/white/blue bathing suit!

Talk to the animals

We went to the zoo today! There was too much to see on one visit so we visited the barn yard section where I got to pet goats and a donkey nuzzled my stroller. We also went to the African Journey section so I could see the elephants, rhinos, and giraffes. There were lots of other animals but frankly I couldn't see them to well when they were hiding in the habitat.

Celebrating the dads

Daddy and I got to snuggle and open gifts on his very first father's day. We also visited the grandfathers and great-grandfather to shower them with hugs and kisses...and customized Lillie gifts.

We wrapped up the father's day fun with a picnic and concert at Ladew Gardens.

Partying like rock stars

I attended my first friend birthday party. And boy, Mommy and Daddy are a little nervous because the bar was set pretty high. There was a petting zoo for the kiddies, catered meal for the adults, and an ice cream truck for all those struggling with the heat. Mommy says my friends will love the retro pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey and Twister marathons at my future parties. I'm not sure exactly what those things are but does anything really beat ice cream?

Strolling to save the ta-ta's!

I got Mommy and Daddy to push me for the Red Devil's Heart & Sole Stroll. Thanks to the generosity of family and friends, I raised over $250 to help local families living with breast cancer get access to basic services such as catered meals, cleaning services, and transportation services.

A Whole Lotta Pomp

Today, my godfather Alec graduated from high school. I got all dressed up and was perfectly behaved during the long ceremony. The Head Master said "what are we going to do without Alec" so I reckon he's a pretty popular guy. I'm going to miss him when he heads off to Texas this fall to attend college. Mommy says not to worry -- it's just a Southwest flight away so we can visit. Yeah -- a college tailgate or frat party!

It's Gettin' Hot In Here; Let's Take Off All Our Clothes...

Yep, I've been hanging out with just my diaper because it's just too darn hot! Mommy and Daddy had to buy me an air conditioner for my bedroom. One night of trying to share their room and they decided it was worth the investment. They should try spending the night on a 1" pack and play mattress -- they would cry, too. We're all hoping for a better night tonight.

Water baby

I had my first trip to the pool today and boy did I like it! It's going to be a long hot summer so I'm glad Mommy and Daddy joined the RP community pool. I have to say, I'm one of the hottest chicks in the baby pool.

Happy birthday big boy!

We celebrated Daddy's 41st birthday all weekend long! There were lots of desserts and I got a nibble of ice cream and lemon mousse. Yummy!

Mommy had her first business trip for her new job. Although it was six days (way too long), Daddy and I visited her in D.C. for the weekend. We took in a bit of culture while Mommy worked the conference. Later we all enjoyed fine cajun cuisine and I proved my restaurant behavior was a true skill not just lucky fluke. It was my first time in a hotel -- that room service and maid service are awesome! Wonder if we can get that at home. Wait -- I think at home we call it "mommy".

Ladies who lunch

Mommy took Grammie, me, Auntie Gilda and Miss Rande out to dine al fresco for a pre-mother's day lunch. Boy -- I like this lunching out thing. I put on one of my pretty dresses and dazzled all the diners with my superb restaurant demeanor.

Then I went two for two by being on my best behavior when Daddy surprised Mommy with dinner at Milton Inn. The other (snooty!) diners kept eye-ing me up because they either liked my dress OR thought I was going to be a shreaker. Once again, I was perfect.

Bunnies and goodies

On Saturday, we colored eggs and I colored myself. That's what the adults get for putting the dye too close to me. They should know how energetic I am these days.

On Sunday, I got dressed up in my pretty dress, bonnet, and shiny black mary janes to attend church and visit all the family. There were goodies for me at every stop!

My secretary has really slacked off in recent weeks. So to catch you up -- I'm loving the solid foods and can't wait to expand my menu choices. I really like to roll around on my playmat...and I hope my Daddy puts me down so I can show him my skills. He likes to cuddle a lot. I got a very cool new toy that I can sit/jump in while playing with lots of toys. I think it's called an exersaucer. And I'm tearing up the streets in my BOB; I even had to visit Mr. Joe at his bike shop to get a flat tire fixed.

I inherited Mommy's purse fetish. There goes my future savings! Today I got my first purse...it matches all my new spring dresses. Today I got white "pleather" but one day I'll have an Hermes Kelly bag in ostrich. Oh a girl can dream...

March Madness

I got to watch basketball with Pop-Pop on Saturday and Daddy on Sunday. That's a lot of basketball! What's up with those Blue Devils and Tar Heels -- barely beating those "lesser" teams. The ACC has its rep to protect! And although March Madness is a time for beer and nachos, I had to settle for mushed carrots. At least they are better than rice cereal.

I spent the night at Grammie and Pop-Pops so that Daddy and friends could toast Mommy's 40th birthday. Why can't I party with the grown-ups?

Luck of the Irish

I love a holiday where I get lots of kisses for being so darn cute...and wearing my heritage on my shirt.

Foodie in training

Today, I had my first solid meal. It was rice cereal mush but Mommy says I need to start somewhere. I can't wait to have all the good stuff I see on the dinner table...and let's not forget those desserts. And when do I get to go to Pazo or Charleston -- Cindy Wolfe wants to meet me. Perhaps I should start with Ruth's Chris because I hear they have good creamed spinach and mashed potatoes which might be easier on my tummy.

Stats

I'm 4 months old today! I weighed in at 10 lbs., 14.5 oz. and measure 23" long. This is a big spurt for me and everyone is happy. Best part -- I get to start eating solids. Bring on the crabcakes! And I can't wait to try Chipotle and Qdoba.

I'm in demand

What a weekend... I volunteered at Priceless Gown Project on Friday evening with Mommy. Then it was off to Roland Park Little League picture day to volunteer with Daddy on Saturday morning. I scored a hat! And then after all my volunteering, I deserved a treat so Daddy took us to watch Loyola play lacross -- we even got to sit in the skybox and enjoy a yummy spread of food and drinks.

Another baby in the house

Apparently I haven't been the only baby in our house in the last few months! Not only were there squirrels playing in the eaves, but a mommy squirrel delivered her babies inside our roof/eaves. It appears the mommy squirrel left through a one-way door installed by the pest company, but her family stayed behind. Mommy and Daddy have already captured two babies in our basement in less than a day. Mommy feels bad releasing them in the wild since they've been so warm and comfy for the last month or two.

Naptown

Today we took a little trip to Annapolis. I looked very stylish in my BOB. Thanks to the BOB's shocks, I had a pretty comfy ride over those brick and cobblestones of historic Annapolis. I like the "lazy" Sunday afternoons and will do my best to make sure Mommy and Daddy enjoy more of them!

Cruising the neighborhood

The 70 degree day was perfect for me to make my debut in my new stroller (The BOB!). I cruised around the neighborhood with Grammie for a half hour soaking up the sun. I can't wait to do it again tomorrow! Oh yeah - check out my cute hat that Miss Stacy knitted for me. It looks like a watermelon BUT don't call me "melon head."

My 1/4 birthday

I celebrated my three month birthday today. Mommy and Daddy enjoyed the sweet dessert and I had to settle for breast milk. What's up with that?!?

Growing up

I'm getting "mad skills". I can mimic simple facial expressions like sticking out my tongue but haven't mastered fishy lips yet. I'm pulling myself up into a sitting position but I haven't quite gotten to 90 degrees. Mommy says it looks like I'm doing crunches so maybe I'll have a flat tummy. I have a few syllables -- Ga and Ow. I can "stand" on your lap if you hold my arms. I'm really into watching Baby Neptune and Access Hollywood on TV. I like "gym" time with Grammie on my tummy play mat. I'll be three months on Thursday!

Snow day!

I've seen a little snow over the last 11 weeks but today we had a real snow storm. Mommy and Daddy had to shovel a lot. They said I'll get my turn in a few years. It looks hard so I'm not sure if I want a turn.

Back to the grind

Mommy went back to work today. I'm sad.

Night Out

Mommy and Daddy have a hot date so I'm going to spend the night at Grammie and Pop-pop's house. It will be my first night sleeping in a different crib. But I'm sure it's just the first of many nights spent away from home because I'm going to be a traveling girl.

I like long weekends. Mommy, Daddy, and me had more time to play and cuddle. All weekends should be long weekends. Why haven't you grown ups figured how to make that happen? Oh well, when I'm President...

Helping hands

We packed 20,000 meals for Haiti. Not just Mommy, Daddy, and me - there were about 100 people working together after church. It was pretty neat and I got "youngest volunteer" status. Whoo-hoo. Wonder if I can start racking up the community service hours now for that future high school requirement.

Baptism Day

Dozens of family and friends gathered at Cathedral to celebrate my Baptism. Father Hugh (a cousin, too!) did a great job as celebrant. I was awake and happy (i.e. quiet) during the service, even with Father Hugh doused me with water and annointed me with oil. My godparents, Andrew F., Alec, Rachel, and Andrew M., all looked so good standing at the alter with Mommy, Daddy, and me. Even my grandparents participated by putting on the special white garmet/bib and lighting the Baptism candle. We had a big party afterward and everyone said how pretty I looked in my gown, which was Mommy's Baptism gown (many, many years ago!).

Baby New Year

I didn't have to wear wings and a diaper but I was still Baby New Year at our house. I woke up at midnight to see the fireworks (on TV) and Skype with Grammie and Pop-Pop so they could see and talk to me. Skype is my new thing!

Wow -- this Christmas thing is pretty nice. Visiting with family and getting all kinds of great gifts. However like Mommy and Daddy, I enjoy giving gifts, too. I got lots of little girlie gifts and we all got Wii so we can have game nights here at home!

Twas the night before...

We kicked off the holidays today by hosting Mommy's family for dinner. Even I got in on the preparations -- mopping floor with Mommy and cooking with Mommy and Daddy (thank goodness for the baby snuggly carrier thingy). It was definitely a team effort.

After dinner, we enjoyed present exchange...and I got lots of goodies. Mommy doesn't want me to get spoiled but it might be too late thanks to our generous family.

After midnight Mass, I dressed in my Christmas pj's and left milk and cookies for Santa. Bring on the big guy!

Let is snow

I saw my first snow today. However, I soon realized that snow can be a 4-letter word around here because the city is slow to plow/salt and Mommy's Jeep Cherokee was out of commission. Although we were stuck at home, we couldn't build a snow man because there wasn't enough of the white stuff. Instead we worked in "santa's workshop" (aka the guest room) wrapping presents.

Santa Claus is coming to town

I met Santa today. I even pulled on his beard but I still think I'm on the nice list.

Show me the money

Mommy says it's never too early to start saving. So today, on my 1-month birthday, we visited Bank of America to set-up my first bank account. Let's just hope interest rates improve so I can see more gains in the coming months and years.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

We put on our elf hats and got Christmasy over the weekend. I got to go to the Christmas tree farm to help Daddy cut down our tree. Mommy says it's an annual tradition and one day I'll get to work the saw. As was Mommy's family tradition, the little girl in the house gets to put the angel on the tree but this year I needed a little help. Our whole house now looks very festive with all the decorating we did. Luckily, we do not have outdoor electric sockets so our house won't be Clark Griswald-ed (Mommy says that's a very good thing!)

Fancy!

Mommy and Daddy got all dressed up to attend a formal dinner and the Cotillion tonight. They said it will be my turn in 18 years. They better start saving up now if they are going to host my pre-dance dinner party at the Maryland Club.

Gobble, Gobble

A 91 year football tradition followed by an afternoon eating frenzy. Mommy says we call this day Thanksgiving. It was fun to cuddle with Daddy while we watched his Blakefield Dons play the big rival football game (although it wasn't fun to watch Calvert Hall kick their butt). By the afternoon we were all dressed up and headed to NuNu and Choo Choo's house for the big family dinner. It was great to meet more cousins. I only wish I could have dived into all that yummy food. And just in case we didn't get enough to eat, we capped off the evening having dessert with Mommy's family. Luckily, the doctor told Mommy and Daddy that I needed to gain more weight so I will indulge in Thanksgiving dinner/dessert (via Mommy's milk) and have seconds, too!

Ruling the roost

Only nine days old and I'm already running this house. Ha-ha. I keep Mommy and Daddy guessing -- eat, sleep, play, or change. Right now, I have my days and nights mixed up but Mommy and Daddy are working very hard to correct that -- mostly for their own sanity.

We've had lots of visitors in the last week. I'm very popular! Everybody loves a baby.

No place like home

After a few days in the hospital, Daddy chauffered us home today. It was so nice to come home to see my beautiful room and meet Regis and Daisy after hearing so much about them! Daddy surprised us with a lovely, clean house and a big bouquet of flowers. Mommy got an extra special surprise -- a certificate for a spa day from Daddy.

I'm looking forward to settling in and meeting lots of family and friends in the coming days.

Better late than never

40 weeks, 3 days and I'm finally here. I popped out at 5:49 pm. Mommy just layed there while Dr. Aziz did all the work but she deserved a break after laboring all day. Then Daddy got to work with me and the baby nurse to do the clean up and measuring. I weigh 8 pounds and measure 21.25" long.

The Great Escape

I'm planning my big escape for tomorrow! Mommy and Daddy have been getting lots of calls and emails but I wanted to keep folks guessing. I think Regis and Daisy know something is up because they have been sticking pretty close to Mommy the last few days.

We enjoyed a yummy sushi dinner this evening since we'll get stuck with hospital food for a few days. Mommy is wondering if Qdoba or Chipotle will deliver to St. Joe's.

On the move

Last night I was very wiggly and Mommy could feel and see me squishing around. It's really getting tight in here. I heard her tell Daddy that I dropped. I hope they pick me up! Bah-dum-bah...practicing my stand up comedy act from the womb.

We took a family trek to PetSmart so Regis and Daisy could get a mani/pedi. Wow -- that was a real adventure. We're going to have to work out a better road trip plan when I have to share the back of the Cherokee with them.

Busy, busy, busy

We had a non-stop weekend of volunteering and Halloween festivities. Yesterday, the doctor told Mommy it was time to take it easy so we're now officially off on maternity leave for the next 3 months. Mommy is bored because I'm not "out there" to keep her company, and she's not allowed to work on house projects until after I pop out.

Trick or Treat!

Mommy made me my first Halloween costume and we're showing it off today at her office. (I'm the jack-o-lantern if you couldn't guess!) Daisy tried to nibble on the materials while Mommy was being crafty so I heard a lot of "no, Daisy" last night but everyone survived. We're going to wear the same costume when we visit at NuNu and Chu-Chu's house this weekend. We need to make Daddy dress up, too.

p.s. Daddy is doing the count down -- only 9 days until I'm due, but Daddy better get used to the idea that I control the schedule!

Last Hurrah

Mommy and Daddy gathered with friends to celebrate one of their last nights of freedom before I make my big debut. I kind of like the nightlife...wonder if I'll get to tag along with them some day.

Training for the marathon

At today's doctor appointment, I got hooked up to a machine to measure my heart and movement. The doctor said "looks gorgeous". Since then, I've been working out in Mommy's belly to keep up the good work. I think Mommy would prefer that I relax a bit but a girl's got to keep in shape, right? Besides, I need to prep for a future Baltimore marathon like my Aunt Sarah and Miss Amanda.

Move over symphony show house...

My Mommy and Daddy finished my new nursery today. They installed the curtain rods, curtains, and paintings from my cousins, as well as organized my toys and books. It looks amazing. Okay, I can't see it yet but I hear through Mommy's belly that it looks amazing. Although there was a lot of moving the ladder, drilling, measuring, etc. I didn't hear any cussing so it must have been a relatively easy home improvement. :-)

Weeks 33 to 36

I've been so wrapped up with what's going on out there in your world, I haven't been keeping you apprised of what's going on in here in my world. So let me catch you up...

I have been busily picking up and storing some weight here and there (perhaps 5-6 pounds already), so I can look as gorgeous as ever when you greet me! My bones are solidifying; can you tell when I rib 'ya, Mommy? But I am gonna keep my head soft - and facing down, god willing, for the my actual debut. My lungs are feeling strong and I look forward to taking in some of that Baltimore autumn air soon. Mommy - you may feel more contractions; however don't think they're all real. I am going to try to wait as long as I can since it's soooo cozy and warm swimming in here.

Think Pink!

Mommy, me, Grammie, and Pop-Pop all got up way before the sun to work at the Race for the Cure. It was a lot of fun -- with 30,000 friends and neighbors. It was great to see so many survivors! I liked working in the Command Center with Mommy -- watching the helicopter feed and sharing the info with all the volunteers in the field.

Doodling daisies -- by a pro!

My Uncle Charlie, the artist, spent the last few days bringing my room to life with his creativity. He transformed my walls into my special daisy garden to match the theme that Mommy and Daddy picked for me. I hope I inherit some of the Macsherry artistic genes! Although Mommy says I'm not allowed to paint on the walls -- just paper or canvas. Now, we just have to hang the paintings my cousins have created as the finishing touch.

Move that bus!

Okay, it wasn't an extreme home make-over but it was definitely a nursery make-over at our house today. Mommy, Grammie, and Auntie Marcelle, transformed my room from piles of boxes and gift bags to a cozy nursery with all my new clothing and gear stored in the proper places. On top of the electrical work that Uncle Joey and Daddy did last weekend, today's hard work makes my new room look amazing! I cannot wait to start living in it!

Spoiled...but not rotten

Yesterday, family and friends gathered at Aunt Gail's house to celebrate my upcoming arrival. There were lots of yummy things to eat and drink. Everyone was overly generous and gave the most wonderful presents. We are so lucky to have such lovely people in our lives. At one point, Mommy needed to take a drink and stretch break because she was overwhelmed with people's generosity...and lots of gift bags! Although I love all the presents and will use them fully in the coming months, my grandmothers gave gifts they know I would especially enjoy. Grammie (Sharon) gave me a bag of beach gear - bathing suit, beach towel, sunglasses, hat, etc. so we can enjoy our next summer together. Nu-Nu (Louise) gave Mommy a baby food processor so Mommy can make all of my meals from healthy ingredients; it's like they are sharing/passing down their love of cooking to me.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm such a lucky little girl.

It's all about me!

Mommy's friends gathered to enjoy some yummy food and wonderful company...and to celebrate my upcoming arrival. Mommy was thrilled to see everyone and share baby stories. We were showered with wonderful gifts, and I cannot wait to wear the pretty clothes, pick out new shoes, surround myself with beautiful soft blankets, read "kid approved" books, shop with my gift card, and break in all my new baby gear and toys. Mommy and Daddy said I should not get used to being the center of attention and getting so many goodies. Yeah, who are they kidding!

As an added surprised, Daddy, Aunt Margaret, Austin, and Uncle Joey put together my crib and started working on the ceiling fan in my bedroom while Mommy and her friends were partying. It's starting to feel pretty real!!!!

Getting Schooled

Today we went to St. Joseph's to learn how I'm going to be born. Mommy and Daddy learned a lot...of course, I already knew it all. I think Daddy was surprised to learn how long the labor is going to be. Mommy asked quite a few questions about the epidural. We're getting closer!

19th Amendment in action

Thanks to women like Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony, Mommy and I got to vote today -- 90 years after those ladies kicked some political butt! We took advantage of the new early voting so we can avoid the lines come primary day next week. Mommy says that elections in Baltimore are usually decided in the primary because of the democratic stronghold on city politics. So we marched right up to that computer terminal and picked our faves. Daddy, always the editor, found a typo on one candidate's flyer -- in her own name/website! Obviously she didn't deserve our vote.

It's been a fun but busy long, holiday weekend. We volunteered, visited friends/family, took care of errands, etc. Mommy taught me the importance of closet organization while working in my bedroom closet. She says it's important to be organized -- because you can fit more clothes and shoes into the space!!!

In my 31st week

From people's comments about Mommy's belly, I must be really showing myself now. I'm supposed to be fattening up before the delivery. To make me feel better about it, Mommy and Daddy have gained a few pounds. Daddy more so, actually! He just enrolled in weekly hot yoga classes to work off some of his extra pounds so he can feel better in his clothes. Mommy thought he looked trimmer after the first session -- he must have sweated at least 3 pounds off. Mommy is looking forward to walks around the 'hood once the weather gets cooler (pray!). Daddy will join her so the three of us will have lots of fun bonding time. I guess we'll bring Daisy and Regis sometimes so they don't get jealous.

Sand between my toes

We went to the beach again this weekend. Boy, I like vacation! We spent lots of time playing on the beach and Daddy even braved the rip tides to check out the waves. It was fun to hang out with Grammie, Pops, and Ceasar. We even got to stop at the Ralph Lauren outlet and pick up some matching pony clothes for me and Daddy! The next time we go to the beach I won't be in Mommy's tummy -- that's gonna be different.

We also enjoyed celebrating Grandma Louise's birthday this evening!

In my 30th week

30! I am counting 10 more weeks, right? I bet you are, Mommy. Hopefully, you have plenty of weeks of peaceful sleep still to come. Last night while you and Daddy were relaxing and stretching out, did you see me pushing through your tummy? I was feeling relaxed so I wanted to show off a little bit. Hey, it's a good time of day to do it - while you guys have slowed down and are paying attention to me. I just want to make sure Daddy knows I am here, even though I haven't officially "arrived"! I can't wait to open my eyes wide to see you and greet my family and circle of friends. Thanks to your reading, I now understand it may take some time to recognize everyone because I'll have less focus when I'm born.

Now, how about we get to the beach again...and this time with Grammie and Grandpop Roger!

Shoes

I am definitely a girl...I'm starting to develop a shoe fetish and I haven't even been born yet! I'm loving the Rileyroos, especially the Belle, Mary Jane, and Sportie styles. (Mommy thinks its funny that Mr. Brian got to name one shoe style/color after his UNC Tarheels.) I'm also digging the See Kai Run sandals but Mommy says that I'll have to keep my toe nails looking neat if I plan to wear sandals. There is a lot to learn about being a girl!

29 -- the "last" age for all women

Mommy says women stop aging at 29. I'm guessing she means years -- not weeks like me. I've been so busy this week that I haven't blogged about what's going on in my world, and I know you're just dying to find out! So...

Ahhh 1-2-3, ahhh 1-2-3...stretching my muscles! I can feel my body getting bigger each and every day now. (Mommy can feel it, too!) I'm just about 3 pounds and 14 inches long...looking very svelte. Mommy is trying to feed me all sorts of good things from our trips to the farmers market -- lots of fresh veggies. She doesn't want me to be one of those kids with a limited palate that refuses to eat anything other than processed food in shades of brown and orange. Luckily, Daddy likes lots of variety so we're used to eating all kinds of good things. Even Daisy and Regis like to get treats from the leftovers. Daisy is always up for tomatoes and Regis has been into peaches.

Purple Haze

Last night I attended my first NFL game -- Panthers vs. Ravens. Daddy scored us free Club Level tickets and "rock star parking". The Ravens won but they weren't looking their finest according to Mommy. I just enjoyed all the sounds -- at the beginning there were lots of cool songs and fireworks while the team ran on field. Ray Lewis was quite a show off when he ran onto the field but fans ate it up. Mommy says everyone is supposed to forget that he was on trial in a murder charge several years ago -- apparently once you find Jesus, it's all good. (I didn't know Jesus gets lost.)

Mommy was impressed that there were no exposed boobies because the cheerleaders were jumping all around in very small bra-shirts. She said they must be thankful for 2-sided tape. I think Daddy enjoyed all that jumping around. Ha-ha.

The best part of Club Level -- AC, nice seats, really nice bathrooms (which we had to visit often thanks to me), and cushy chairs and flat panel TVs for when it started raining. I hope Daddy gets to take me to more Ravens games when I get older so I can actually see all the hoopla -- and wear a cool purple jersey!

Beginning of 28th week

I've made it to the third trimester! Yippee. What fun I am having in here! I can hear Mommy and Daddy all the time talking about me, recently making plans for my room. I am learning so much about life from the comfort of Mommy's tummy - about our home, our family, our city, and our beach vacation spot. I can sense myself retaining more and more info with each passing day - must be the growth of my brain lobes, right? Mommy claims it's her memory genes that I'm getting. Brain power is the kind of stuff that is supposed to be happening in this 28th week...along with eyebrows and eyelashes. Daddy's eyebrows come in thick. I wonder what mine will look like? Mommy truly hopes I get Daddy's eyelashes and her eyebrows. She says The Red Door Spa doesn't do infant eyebrow waxes.

Beach babe

My first trip to the beach!! I loved the sound of the waves crashing on the shore but could have used a bigger umbrella. It was really hot out there. Mommy and Daddy checked out all the parents and their kid gear to figure out what we'd need next summer. People drag A LOT of stuff to the beach for the kids! I think I'll be brave enough for the ocean so we can do without the kiddie pool on the beach. I definitely want to get a kite for flying on the beach in the evenings -- that looks like fun and Mommy says it was one of her favorite activities way back when. Daddy likes to play Scrabble on the beach but I think it will be a few years before I can challenge him. Mommy says he's tough -- like all of the Macsherry Scrabble gurus.

12 Angry Men? It looked more like a lot of weirdos to me

Mommy and I served jury duty today. Talk about reality show potential! The people watching and eavesdropping were spectacular. There were older ladies all dressed up and young people who look like they just got out of jail. Wild. Although we met some nice people, it was a day-long freak fest. Luckily, Mommy didn't have to go to a courtroom for vior dire. She says she'll never get picked given her old life with FTI (plaintiff attorneys are evil) and the minor crime she's experienced here in Baltimore.

Beginning 27th week

I was a slacker last week -- I didn't write about the beginning of my 26th week but I'm back on track now as I enter my 27th week in the tummy. Mommy says we're in the home stretch -- whoo-hoo!

To borrow lyrics from The Who..."Can you hear me? Can you feel me near you?" I am trying to make some noise, and let you know I am eating up and alive and well in here. A bump here, a kick there. Start counting! Consider them both comforting and bonding moves from your daughter. Mommy you better grab Daddy's hand and put it on the belly so he can feel me too! Soon, I will be wanting to grab his hand on our walks.

I heard Mommy reading a cool story last night @ Grandmom Louise's and Grandpop Charlie's house. I bet my cousin Christian loved it, as much as I did - because it put him to sleep like me. I look forward to meeting all my cousins later this year!

She works hard for [no] money...

I have had such a busy day! I volunteered at Our Daily Bread (soup kitchen) all morning...with Mommy, Daddy, and Grandmom Louise. I liked helping other people...Mommy says I get that from both parents/families. Mommy (and I) was a server while Daddy was a food runner. It takes a lot of volunteers to feed all those people. I'm making Mommy's belly big so the apron barely fits!

After ODB, we decided to work outside because the temp is finally under 90 degrees. Mommy and I weeded and trimmed bushes while Daddy cut grass and edged. Darn, our yard is really big. Mommy says she and Daddy bought a house with a yard knowing that I would come along some day. I think it was really for Daisy and Regis, but I'll play along with her. It is a lot of work, and I'm thinking I may prefer condo living.

Babymoon

We had a great babymoon this weekend in DC. I guess it was really for Mommy and Daddy but I was obviously along for the ride. I attended my first concert on Friday evening. Mommy says it's important I'm exposed to good music as early as possible (can you say iPod for my nursery!). She says no "Baby Beluga" for me. We suffered through 95+ degree temps to enjoy the jams of Dave Matthews Band. Daddy and I enjoyed our first DMB experience but Mommy was bummed they didn't play some of her faves. Oh well...next time.

This morning I got another first -- a massage. Okay, technically it was Mommy's -- Daddy surprised her with a mother-to-be massage at the hotel. However, I really enjoyed it, too! I wonder if The Red Door does mother - daughter specials? I think I could get used to the girly treatment.

After a yummy brunch, we rounded out our babymoon with some culture. We attended a matinee at the Shakespeare Theater. Mommy and Daddy laughed a lot at the comedy but I couldn't make out too much because of all those funny British accents.

Beginning the 25th week

Since Mommy and Daddy were enjoying the yummy food at the reunion, I should start putting on some of the famous baby fat -- just to fill me in and make me not so wrinkly in here. I know it's just me in here now, but I don't want to get a complex worrying about the wrinkles. (I heard Grandmom Sharon and some others mentioning something about Rohrer family crow's feet. Let's hope I get Grandmom Louise's smooth skin genes.) I'm looking good at 13 inches long when I stretch out and picking up some ounces...weighing in at just under 2 pounds this week.

Greene County is the place to be...

This weekend we journeyed west to Pennsylvania to a family reunion to see lots of Mommy's great-aunts, uncles, and cousins galore! About 150 people swarmed around tables of food while non-stop gabbing -- it was quite impressive. While Daddy was amazed with the never ending display of desserts, Mommy doesn't think she's ever seen that much fried chicken or kielbasa on one table. Mommy missed the bingo but Daddy enjoyed the reunion meeting which had serious reality show potential. Later as we drove to the farm (I look forward to cows on a future visit), Daddy said he probably has never been to such a rural location. City boy! Before "Reunion: Day 2", we toured Morgantown so Mommy could show Daddy her old stomping grounds from her WVU days. Given the number of bars we saw, it is surprising that Mommy ever graduated. Wonder if Mommy is going to let my apply there one day?

Sign us up for next year -- the 100th reunion. I might win the prize for youngest guest.

Starting the 24th week

We just finished at the doctor's office and Mommy and Daddy got a chance to hear my heart beat and hear me swimming in the pool (aka Mommy's tummy). Mommy was reassured that I am indeed growing bigger and bigger in here. I am over a foot long already and allegedly have plenty of room, but I saw those photos on the doctor's walls and it looks like it's going to get pretty tight in the coming months. And although I sometimes feel a little pressure when Mommy bends over, I am doing just fine, eating well and getting plenty of r&r. For some reason, I tend to be more active in the late evening (can you say night-owl which is in Daddy's genes!). I wanted to give Mommy some special attention while Daddy is working. Daddy promises he'll finish up those crazy overnight shifts so they will be "in it" together at night when I arrive. I wonder if they will fake sleep like when the dogs bark in the middle of the night - each trying to avoid getting out of bed to deal with the noise. Ha-ha. I'm looking forward to having both hear me when I giggle/cry, change my diapers, clothe me - and yes, feed me. I think I'll be hungry a lot.

Starting the 23rd week

Hey - I have surpassed the 1 pound mark...finally! Are we celebrating yet? Was that the reason for the fireworks last night? I am trying to give an occasional "kick out", my in utero version of a shout out. And guess what? I am beginning to show my "real self" - meaning you get what you see, Mommy and Daddy.

Mommy and Daddy better be prepping for life with me! I sure hope Mommy gets the 3 months of escape -- I mean bonding -- time from her job. Hopefully Daddy will get some bonding time, too! I really love the idea of Grandmom Sharon & Pop-pop Roger taking care of me while M & D are working, at least for as long as they can before I start wanting to hang out with kids my own age.

Sis-Boom-Bang

Mommy says it's the hottest summer in recent years. Given that it's only July, I think she's exaggerating. But then again, the forecast is for 100+ for the next several days. While it really doesn't bother me, I don't think Mommy likes it too much. Luckily, friends and family are kind enough to share their pool passes with us. I like that floating sensation when Mommy is in the water. Mommy thinks that if she swims with me in her tummy that maybe I'll turn out to be a swimmer. She mentions something about scholarships...I'm not sure what those are but they sound pretty important. She mentions scholarships when she's reading to me, too, so it must have something to do with smart or sporty. I plan to be both!

On Saturday, Mommy and Daddy made us all dress up in red, white, and blue -- the dogs, too. I think we probably looked like dorks but apparently it's a tradition that everyone follows this weekend. We walked around the neighborhood with hundreds of other people, bikes, dogs, old cars, and the big fire truck. At the end of the walk, there were cupcakes. I like a walk that ends with cupcakes.

We were enjoying what I think was a picnic given the potato salad and shorty chairs that Mommy is having trouble getting in/out of. Then all of a sudden there was pretty music. Mommy said the music was coming from the symphony and I could hear her and Daddy singing along to some of the songs. Let's just say I don't think I'll be getting any good vocal genes so I can forget my aspirations of opening for U2 one day. As the music was ending, there were really loud bangs. I was startled and had to give a little kick. Mommy told me to relax because the bangs come with lots of pretty lights in the sky. She said I'll enjoy it much more next year. I'm not so sure.

In honor of World Cup

Since the world is fascinated by hot guys (according to Mommy) running around kicking a ball at a net, I've decided that I would try my practice kicks in Mommy's belly. I think she likes feeling those kicks now...but we'll see if she thinks the same when I get bigger and stronger. Mommy keeps putting Daddy's hand on her lower belly to feel the kicks, but he may think she's getting frisky.

Starting the 22nd week

Dear Mommy,
Can't believe how big I am getting in here. I'm almost a pound. I think that may be as big as a loaf of bread or a can of green beans or a ketchup bottle. Catch a theme here? I am sure hungry these days. And I heard you and Daddy discussing childbirth ed classes. What a good move. As first-time parents, you two will take it all in, making notes and lists, and be ready for all the craziness my birth brings later this fall.

Starting the 21st week

Mommy, drink lots of water for me - because I am drinking up, and growing, and growing. I have fully-formed eyelids this week! Sit and relax, and put your feet up more often. I have heard many other expectant moms enjoy this portion of pregnancy the most.Btw, I will try to be more mobile for you to hear and feel me. ;-)

Daddy's big day

Today, I gave Daddy his very own diaper bag for his first Father's Day. It's quite manly so he won't look stupid when he's taking me out and about. It even has these two cooler pockets for bottles...but I'm not sure if Daddy means baby bottles or beer bottles. I guess we could share..each get one for our favorite beverage. Just don't tell Mommy!

Shop 'til you drop

Mommy and Daddy visited Babies R Us to check out all the gear. After 2.5 hours and only about 4 aisles, we were all exhausted. Pacifiers take up an entire wall! Perhaps I should just suck my thumb to save them the hassle of picking out the so-called right pacifier. Mommy wouldn't let Daddy weigh in on the breast bump and accessories. She says that until he can produce milk, he can't opine. And don't even get me started on bottles!

The good news is that I'm pleased with the selections. The bad news...there is more to select. Do baby sheets come in 300+ thread count?

Into the wild

This weekend was my first camping trip. Sleeping on the ground isn't so bad when your cushioned in lots of amniotic fluid. However, not sure if Mommy and Daddy enjoy as much comfort as me. I think Mommy was scared to walk to the bathroom through the woods in the middle of the night. I guess that is the downside of camping while pregnant.

Starting the 19th week

Mommy, I have been hearing you're experiencing some of my growing pains. Hang in there for the ride, as they say. I'll be kicking soon, because I will be getting restless in here. But make sure you take good care of yourself - plenty of hydration, rest and lie down on your side. And take it easy getting up when you do rise from the sofa or the bed!I am growing ounce by ounce, and a lot more to go before my arrival into your world. I feel some fuzz on my head too. Maybe just maybe, I will show off my "gender ID" to you and Daddy this time next week.

Mommy's Big Day

Today was Mommy's first Mother's Day(although Daisy and Regis have been giving her Mother's Day cards for a few years and claim to be the first children). Daddy and I worked together to give her a Boppy...a full body pillow so she and I can get a good night's sleep. And Daddy did a great job on the wrapping!
